The news from many
parts of Uganda is the concern about the drought conditions. We ought to know that we are the cause of the
climatic changes we are enjoying, and unfortunately, though we get a lot of
rain in the wet seasons, majority of our farmers (peasants) have no ability to
store water for the drought conditions.
Given the
situation, it is not wrong for the public to focus on Government for away
forward as it is Government that can enforce the planting of trees, the
provision of planting materials, the strategy to see that wet lands are
maintained so. One of the past years, in
the budget money had been put to help farmers get capacity to hold water for
the dry season, unfortunately, not much was done.
