BACKGROUND.
‘Ekisaakaate’ is an enclosure, that was traditionally fenced a homestead of Kabaka’s (King of Buganda), Chiefs (Abaami ba Kabaka) and other high ranking personalities in society in Buganda, where good values, disciplines and cultures were developed. Inside the “Ekisaakaate” young Baganda children were taken for cultural grooming, leadership development, and acquisition of moral and other social skills, knowledge on cultural practice and values, as well as occupational skills.
Her Royal Highness the Nnabagereka (Queen) Sylvia Nagginda of Buganda Kingdom in Uganda realized that there is a great need to salvage cultural values and beliefs and to restore a ‘holistic’ generation in our society, following the moral decadence in society. Through the Nnabagereka Development Foundation (NDF) that Envisions: ‘A Leading African Foundation Celebrating Positive Culture and Providing Development Solutions”, HRH The Nnabagereka developed a concept of the Ekisaakaate Kya Nnabagereka (EKN) in the year 2007 as key flagship programme of NDF. Ekisaakaate kya Nnabagereka (EKN) is a youth camp organized by NDF to address one of NDF’s Strategic Objectives of Social Transformation through Obuntubulamu / Ubuntu. EKN has since become a household brand and international leading mentorship and leadership development programme.
The ‘Ekisaakaate’ program aims at nurturing young girls and boys into ‘holistic’ persons, social managers and leaders who appreciate and harmonize both traditional and modern values.
In detail, Ekisaakaate aims at:
  •  Adopting culture as a positive and important foundation for self-development
  •  Nurturing young girls and boys into holistic and versatile individuals
  •  Character formation and personality development
  • Appreciating, rather than shun cultural identity and tradition
  • Respecting the world’s diverse culture.
EKN Envisions: “A Foundation for A New Holistic Moral and Upright Generation”.
EKN Mission: “To Nurture a New and Complete Society by Educating People On The Basis
Of Our Motto”
Our Motto: “SEE, LEARN, and ACT
