The
business people who are used to the influx of parents, children and students as
the new academic year opens cannot believe what they are seeing. There are very few people calling to buy
items for children going back to school.
At this moment in time, parents with children joining Secondary one
ought to be doing big shopping, but surprisingly, nothing of the type is seen.
One
can only see security personnel everywhere which shows that things are not
well. It is unfortunate that whenever
people are having big expectations like a change at the top, things turn out
the other way round. Developments which
have seen the switching off of mobile money are a big surprise to the people
who know that large sums of money are easily remitted using mobile money.
It
will be so bad if parents decide to hold children at home simply because of
developments where they can never be sure of what happens next. What if their children are cut off at school?
The
fruits of the NRM 5 year bush war are what we are witnessing now. Surely, after 30 years in power, the country
would see a civilized change of leadership at the top. It is sad.
Hope God saves the country from the likes of developments in Somalia.
