KIWANUKA KITUUKA PROPOSES URGENT FIXING OF THE AREA WHERE ENTEBBE HIGHWAY AND St. MARY'S KITENDE ROAD MEET

While I appeal for modification to be done where the road to St. Mary’s Kitende meets Entebbe Highway, I think it is high time the concerned authorities addressed traffic jams due to school activities.  As we look to modernity, we must study situations first, and if we establish that a situation is an inconvenience to the public, policy should be that it is addressed.

Time is now to see that jams due to school activities are controlled.  If Visitations are a problem, then maybe they should be phased out in schools which lead to jams.  In the past, we had no official visitation days; a parent could decide to call at school if there was real need.  Now that there is mobile money, and effective means to get mail to schools, Government should seriously consider the nuisance the visitations cause and have it addressed.  I don’t see why all parents have to collect their children from school.  The schools should get buses and have children taken to certain centres where the jams would be avoided.  This business of letting everybody do as he wishes is part of the underdevelopment we should overcome.  There is no reason why we should have these jams when their happening is known in advance.
