CAN WE IN UGANDA LIVE TO THE THEME OF WORLD AIDS DAY 2015?

The theme of World Aids Day 2015 is: Getting to zero; end Aids by 2030.

For Uganda to get any where near to zero HIV infections there must be serious address of the prevailing poverty which positively induces people to get the virus as they look for survival.

Secondly, the unemployment is at unacceptable levels.  There MUST be a deliberate effort by Government to address the ever increasing unemployment in the economy.  There should be no excuses.  Uganda’s problem currently is where one man who is surely ‘expired’ deals with the resource allocation.  He ends up influencing allocation to non productive areas with the main objective as seeing himself continue in office of President.  Time is ripe for Uganda to have a leader who listens to professional ideas and is ready to implement policies that make sense given the countries circumstances.

While the figures and infection rates in Uganda are reported to be unacceptably high, there is need to see to the implementation of a fund where locally mobilized resources will be pooled to help the sick access free or near to free treatment if they are to live on.
