GLADYS KIKULE GIVEN A BEFITTING SEND OFF

GLADYS KIKULE GIVEN A BEFITTING SEND OFF.

Tuesday, February 16, 2021 Gladys Kikule was generally in jovial mood. She told her attendants that she was going somewhere. She thanked them and hugged them. She expressed gratitude to the care they rendered to her all the time. From around 3.00am, on Wednesday morning, she was talkative and at times would add English language in her expressions. Those attending to her including Roy her daughter did not know that her time to meet her creator had come. By around 4.50am, she was pronounced dead.

Prior to the Church Service at the family residence at Bweya  - Central Zone (Kajjansi Town Council), the mourners who were present were requested to have food. By midday, the Church Ministers were ready to start the Service. Reverend Fredrick Musisi Masangere was the Master of Ceremony and the host given that he is Parish Priest based at Kitende St. Stephen Church of Uganda.

The sermon was given by Retired Bishop of Namirembe Balagadde Sekadde. Sekadde recalled how the Late Zackaria Kikule and wife Gladys had paid them a visit in 1994 following their appointment to take charge of Namirembe Diocese.

There were other Church Ministers who among others included: Canon Jonathan Kisawuzi of Entebbe Archdeaconry, Canon Miwanda and Canon Isaac Membe Kijjambu.

The children who talked were in praise for Gladys and their Late Father Kikule having been role models who shaped them into the Christian lives they have found very satisfying. They said their mother had been a jack of many trades including a tailor, baked cakes more so for weddings, kept cattle and that for long, their home was source of milk to Bweya Community. Gladys indeed greatly contributed to giving a hand in payment for fees from her own undertakings.

The grandchildren were all in praise for a model grandmother who had greatly helped to shape their destiny. They thanked Oliver, Roy and Mrs Magara who would in shifts leave the comfort of their homes and nursed Jajja Gladys.

The weather was really good and a few minutes past 2.00pm, Jajja / Maama / Aunt Gladys Kikule was laid to rest at the Kikule Family Burial ground.

We thank God that Gladys lived a model Christian life as well as played her role in educating many she came in touch with.

Maama Gladys Kikule Weeraba.

God be with you till we meet again.

AMEN.

GLADYS KIKULE 95 PASSES ON

JAJJA GLADYS KIKULE 95 PASSED ON PEACEFULLY AROUND 6.00AM WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2021.

We thank God for the fruitful life of Jajja Gladys Kikule of Bweya in Kajjansi Town Council. We are thankful to God because Gladys loved God and preaching the good news of Jesus Christ. She raised very responsible children.

Gladys was an Old Girl of Gayaza High School.

Gladys has gone to join Zakaria Kikule who left 26 years ago in 1995.

Maama Gladys Kikule had a big challenge following the news of the passing of Architect Paul Kikule, but God helped her to endure.

Gladys has been a jolly and loving lady. Many times she would be grateful on visiting her and would love talking.

Thank God for the daughters of Maama Kikule who have been physically at her side caring for their mother all the time up-to when she passed on. Of course, the other relatives and friends have played a great role in seeing her comfortable as she aged on.

THE CAREER LIFE OF JOHN NAZARETH AN OLD BOY OF SMACK WHO DONATED A HOUSE TO THE SCHOOL

THE CAREER LIFE OF JOHN NAZARETH AN OLD BOY WHO DONATED A HOUSE TO THE SCHOOL.

The story as told to William Kituuka Kiwanuka

(Lourdel House 1974 - 1979)

John Nazareth was a student at St. Mary’s College from 1961 to 1966 and was a member of Mugwanya House. He was a classmate of Dr. George Kkolokolo and Engineer J.B. Walusimbi Jr.

During the Pre - Independence Elections of 1962, Kisubi Parish Church was ransacked at night and the Blessed Tabarnacle was broken into and the Host was stolen. There was fear that the same would happen at the College Chapel. So, Anthony Carvalho and Nazareth both Sacristans volunteered to sleep in the Sacristy to give an alarm in case the Chapel was invaded. This they did for 2 years and a few months.

Nazareth proceeded to do a B.Sc. in Mathematics at Makerere University after which he worked with the Statistics Division of the Ministry of Finance & Planning in Entebbe from 1970.

From the time he was born in Entebbe,  his father was employed by the Government of Uganda. For most of his life in Uganda, their family stayed in houses rented by the Government. After the death of his  father in 1965 (while he was still a student at SMACK) his family moved from the Government house into a private one which his aunt had bought for them.

It was in a line of Commercial shops with a home at the back that was located near the entrance to Entebbe – Plot 99, Kampala Road. The house was however seized at the time of the Expulsion of Asians in November 1972. Nazareth then moved into a Government house as he was entitled given that he was working for Government. In September 1973 Nazareth took unpaid leave from the Ministry to do Postgraduate studies outside Uganda. Given that the political climate was really bad in 1975 when he completed his studies, he decided with great sadness not to return and stayed in Toronto Canada. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Statistics from the London School of Economics  Political Science, an M.Sc. in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Toronto, and an MBA from York University Toronto. Professionally he worked in Litton Systems, De Havilland Aircraft, and Bombardier Aerospace in the field of Reliability & Maintainability Engineering. (He was proud when the rejuvenated Uganda Airlines chose to operate the CRJ900 aircraft from Bombardier).

In 1981, the aunt Miss Lily Nazareth who had donated the house to his family died and had left the house at Plot 99 to Nazareth as per her Will.

When President Museveni encouraged people to reclaim their properties, Nazareth decided to claim the Entebbe house which he eventually donated to his former school.

He had sought the advice of Ambassador Joseph Tomusange who was then Uganda’s High Commissioner to Canada (They remembered each other from SMACK days). The Ambassador had been very helpful to him and Ben Ssenyonjo when they formed an Association which was a vehicle to send books to Uganda.

Tomusange suggested that a Lawyer from SMACK be used, and he asked Hon. Edward Ssekandi to help. Hon. Ssekandi was a year ahead of Nazareth when they were at SMACK.

Around  1992 Nazareth contacted Hon. Ssekandi and gave him Powers - of -Attorney which authorized him to act on his behalf, and all necessary documents were sent to Hon. Ssekandi to effect the transfer to the name: St. Mary’s College Kisubi.

The house is currently rented out by the school and is a source of income.

THE 1st DEATH ANNIVERSARY OF DR. SIMON KAGUGUBE

15th FEBRUARY 2021 MARKS ONE YEAR SINCE DR. SIMON KAGUGUBE BREATHED HIS LAST.

I had just returned home from burial, on checking my phone I saw a message from Robert a friend, it was: “Dr. Simon Kagugube has passed on”. It took me time to get to terms with the sad news.

I met Dr. Kagugube when he was in HSC when I joined St. Mary’s College Kisubi. He was House Prefect of Kiwanuka, the Blue House. He was the type of brand who was inspirational with a lot of confidence and commanded respect within the school student body.

I was later to meet Dr. Kagugube when St. Mary’s College Kisubi was preparing for the School Centenary. Though he had a busy schedule, he got time for the Steering Committee Meetings, and his contribution greatly helped the success of the function in 2006.

We thank God for his contribution to St. Mary’s College Kisubi and Uganda at large.

We indeed miss him a lot.

May he continue to Rest In Peace.

UNDERSTANDING KITUUKA FROM HIS WORKS

To better understand who William Kituuka Kiwanuka, one needs to look at some of my works on the Internet. I had opportunity to attend Good Governance Training by Uganda Local Government Association (ULGA) on radio waves from Zimbabwe and funded by the World Bank from 2005. This training induced me to being practical in matter of Good Governance in Uganda. I started Good Governance Practice (GOGOP) in 2007; and under that many of the works that feature below were done.

I had intentions to stand for president of Uganda starting with fundraising. The funds were realized, but the powers that be did not allow me to access a coin in 2010.  I tried my luck again from 2014 through to 2016. I did not get a coin released to me by my bank.

I am a victim of my ideas. My ideas generated financial resources to back my campaigns for President in 2010, but instead I was frustrated, the same in 2016. I however believe if I can work with some serious organization, be it out of Uganda, given my works below, I think I can make good contribution to the organization health.
