HOPEFULLY, SOME UGANDA GIRLS ARE BENEFITING FROM THE US $ 31m FROM US.


This follows a press conference at US Embassy in Kampala on October 15, 2015 in which US officials revealed that their country had set aside $31 million to support a campaign against HIV/AIDS among girls living in ten high risk districts in Uganda. The initiative called: Determination, Resilient, Empowered, Aids - free, Mentored and Safe women (DREAMS) kicked off.
 
Among beneficiary districts are:
Oyam, Sembabule, Mityana and Mukono.
Jackie Calnan, USAID's HIV Program management Specialist said that the UNAIDs 90 - 90 - 90 target - 90% of the people knowing their HIV status, 90% having access to ARVs and 90% of those receiving treatment to have viral suppression - would be realized in Uganda by 2020.
