THOUGH I AM SO MUCH OPPOSED TO MUSEVENI BEING PRESIDENT BEYOND 3 DECADES, I BELIEVE HE COULD STILL WIN IN A FREE AND FAIR ELECTION.

 Museveni could still win a free election given what is on ground.
The reasons are:

1. I do not think it is by accident that NRM has majority Members in Parliament, so logically if that is so, chances are that one who elected an NRM MP would have a big chance to have voted Museveni;
2. President Museveni has so much to show to the peasant Ugandan that he greatly helps them to manage. I have been to a USE school in Wakiso district with four streams per class. Three quarters of these children have near to free education. There are also many in primary section who have no fee worth mentioning that they pay to schools;
3. It is wrong to ignore the impact of the billions Museveni used while in campaigns. It is locals who get some big amount and or free T - shirts as a result.
4. It is true that in a number of places the major roads have been bad and as of now, one may take a quarter the time they used to;
5. A number of locals still call to Government assistance for planting materials (seeds).
6. The experience of both the 1979 as well as the 5 year Bush war left scars on a number of families. The people have the fear of risking the uncertainty.
The opposition in Uganda has come out a great deal to show Museveni's bad side, but the rationale of the poor Ugandan is that the man may be seen bad by those who have something, but to him the poor guy, Museveni is stii saviour.
In short, the opposition in Uganda has a big task to deal with and defeat the Museveni infrastructure where the party and state organs have been fused.
Merely preaching the bad of President Museveni may not help to get NRM out of the Presidency. Bigger joint strategies have to come into being to show that the opposition can be united as a joint force before an election. The joint opposition should be seen to deliver for the poor. It is not impossible for the opposition to get agents of change who can work in villages as extension workers. It is not impossible to get health clinics to the people
It is not impossible to mobilize as opposition to build school structures.
When people see unity of opposition and eventually the understanding to field one opposition candidate as well as the opposition featuring in the betterment of their lives, chances that the NRM may be on the journey to exit may then be real.
