AN APPEAL TO CHAIRMAN MATIA BWANIKA OVER ENCROACHMENT ON LAND TOWARDS KAJJANSI AIRSTRIP

Environment degradation is very real at Kajjansi Trading Centre and its immediate hinterland.  Much of this land is swampy. But unfortunately, the rate at which the land is being encroached on is very worrying.  I wish to appeal to Mr. Matia Bwanika; Chairman LC V to find time and call around the place along the road to Kajjansi Airstrip.  It is disturbing the way houses are being put up, the growing of Rice, the filling of the swamp, and looks like there is no body to raise a finger.  The papyrus is all being encroached on, it is really bad.

Just last week, a sign post was put at what was initially built as a Slaughter House; it is going to be Community Policing undertaken.  It is not clear whether these people will not have parades around which will worsen the land degradation.  It is not clear whether those settling on this land are cleared by Wakiso land office.  The rate at which new houses are being constructed in the swamp land below Kajjansi trading centre is a cause of concern.

By copy of this write-up, the Chairman Wakiso district is called upon to see that the land is saved from continued degradation by those currently encroaching on it.
