AS UGANDA JOINS THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR DAY, PRAYERS ARE NEEDED FOR THE COUNTRY TO OVERCOME THE CANCER OF CORRUPTION.

If there are offices in Uganda to do with Government services where one does not have to part with a token to get services, those are a handful.
UMEME is one unfortunate case. If you are a beneficiary of Yaka and there happens to be some connection problem, I have witnessed UMEME staff demand for anything between 50k to 150k!
At the passport office, someone demands for 100k so that you get the passport in a short time.
At district level, if you have to register a school, someone will give you a list of officers who have to endorse your forms and the amount payable to each all in multiples of 50k.
In the health facilities it is either negligence of patients, stealing of drugs or failure to be on duty at the time when one should.
So, while there is concern about lack of morale to many in Government service, workers have learnt the way to tax those who need their services.
