PROPOSAL NAME: DEVELOPING THE NAMUTAMBA STORY INTO A TOURIST ATTRACTION.

PROPOSAL IMPLEMENTATION: NAMUTAMBA.........

PROPOSAL IDEA SCOPE:

To take into consideration greater Namutamba and also Tourist attractions beyond Namutamba including: Ttanda, Nakayima, Lake Wamala landscape to mention some.

PROPOSAL PARTNERS:

1. The Ministry of Tourism Wildlife & Antiquities;

2. Children from prominent Namutamba families who will provide information to be put in the Namutamba Museum;

3. Households ready to put up Home Stay Facilities;

4. Tour Operators, to mention some.

THE PROBLEM:

Harnessing the Namutamba Story into a Tourism Attraction so that it remains a landmark on Namutamba landscape as well serve the boosting of the local economy.

ASPECTS THAT MAKE TOURISM A REALITY IN THE AREA:

1. All that to do with the roles of Lea Wilson Family in the development of Namutamba. Here, the Nagenda family (more so John Nagenda) among others are resource persons. This will be taken hand in hand with the Balokolism and eventual influence beyond Namutamba;

2. A Museum to have the history of Namutamba and photo images for illustration as shall be supplied by different Namutamba families.

3. Listing and developing Tourist Attractions in Namutamba which include:

a) Water Falls

b) Traditional trees of Namutamba 

c) Stoney landscapes of Namutamba environment 

d) The temperate like climate at Namutamba 

e) Tea shrubs landscapes on sloping hillsides.

f) Namutamba Ring Road

g) Education and Religious institutions.

4. The Tourist Attractions outside Namutamba which are worth adding to the package one may visit in addition.

STRATEGY:

1. For the Museum - children of Namutamba Families will be expected to avail information and photographs of their families / parents stating the roles these played in the area.

2. The NGO will endeavor to coordinate the Namutamba community, the NGO members and the Ministry of Tourism, when the Ministry endeavors to give a hand.

OFFICE:

The NGO shall have a contact office in Kampala and also an office in Namutamba. 

FUNDING OF OPERATIONS:

The NGO shall endeavor to raise funds from the members to see the idea taking off. However, we look forward to a push by the Ministry of Tourism in areas where such assistance will be feasible; among others: in developing our project idea to a practical reality hence eventual implementation.

SUSTAINABILITY:

Initially, the idea will need good financial support from the NGO and the Ministry of Tourism, however, this is an income generating undertaking that is capable of financing its continued existence. Accountability shall be ensured to ensure good business management norms are ensured.
