JANUARY 29, 2021 MARKS 17 DAYS SINCE THE SOCIAL MEDIA WAS PUT OFF.

In Uganda we keep enduring the pains of underdevelopment. Imagine having the social media put off deliberately for 2 weeks. It will soon be 14 days since this was put off.

Much as the consumers are affected, the Telecommunication companies which are service providers are realizing little revenue. It is important to know that investment decisions are made against projected income. These companies have loans to service and a fortnight is too long a period of time. I spend a minimal of shs 4,000 on data, but as of now, I do not even consume shs 2,000 a day.

Political decisions have to be made carefully. We have a number of people who market their goods using social media, for two weeks they are in a vacuum. This is really sad.

The Question: How did we get here?

The NRM Parliament Caucus is scheduled to meet on Saturday, January 29 2021 at State House. Top of the agenda should be: Having social media re - instated. NRM is looking for questions why they are fairing badly in some areas. You cannot inconvenience people for two weeks in these hard times and you think the party will have votes. No way. It is wrong to take people who are capable of making own decisions for granted.

Students who are using you rude, Facebook among other forums cannot study. What went wrong? That is what needs to be corrected.

Some of us are followed simply because of what we post on social media. If a person does not see any post for 2 weeks, he or she gives up on you. To some of us, social media is part of the daily menu. If your party is responsible for my being off social media, surely I cannot see the reason why I give you votes.

As NRM looks for votes, I think it makes all the sense having social media put back this weekend, short of that NRM will keep counting their loses.

Some of us have phones which since January 12 were disabled in uploading apps. Surely how can you expect votes from us?
