THE LIKES OF GRACE TURYAGUMANAWE ARE CREATING A POLICE STATE IN UGANDA

I hope I heard properly a news item where it was said that Grace Turyagumanawe had given an order that no member of the opposition from outside Luwero should be seen in Luwero on the voting day.  Grace is getting everything wrong.  He is interfering with the work of the Electoral Commission.  What the Electoral Commission would do is to inform the opposition candidate to give the names of those people she wants to help in monitoring what will go on at various polling stations.  It is common knowledge that the DP candidate will lose the election if there is no vigilance as regards monitoring the activities at various polling stations.

For the likes of Turyagumanawe, they should think beyond their nose.  It is very important to ensure that peace and security are witnessed on the voting day, but the role they play should be well balanced.  Some of the wrongs the likes of these officers do will live beyond them such that the children may also be negatively impacted on such reckless decisions.  The way forward is to see that the candidates are at liberty to choose those to help them monitor the polls such that at the end of the day they are satisfied with the result.
